Freedom

Life can seem so complex and life’s problems so immense that it’s easy to despair of life.  What I’ve found, however, is that when life is lived according to a different perspective, everything seems to fall into place and life becomes transformed.

Since this change in perspective I’ve found that life has become simpler, easier to understand and more spontaneously enjoyable.

The change in perspective that brought this about is this;  I live life from the perspective of consciousness or the feeling of being.  The other perspectives that I’ve viewed life from before this were from the body and from the mind.  The trouble with living life from the perspective of the body is that the good feeling in the body and about the body diminishes with time and is also erratic.  The trouble with living life from the perspective of the mind is that life ends up as abstract, unreal and a problem.  Neither the mind nor the body allowed me to live a free and happy life.

From the perspective of consciousness, however, I have found a sense of freedom that is incomparable to any attainable via the body or the mind.

Freedom is consciousness.  Whatever is being experienced, from the perspective of consciousness, is contained within a field of Happiness.  Therefore, there is no need to change experience or have a particular kind of experience, all experience is transcended in consciousness.

Freedom is the feeling of being.  In every moment we exist.  This is the most basic fact of  our existence. It’s the only fact we can be absolutely certain of.  It’s the one undeniable truth.  This truth is evident in the feeling of being - not being something, simply being.  Life lived from the perspective of the feeling of being is a life of freedom, of certainty, of constancy. It is a life of Happiness.

Consciousness or the feeling of being is the feeling of freedom from every form of bondage - spiritual, mental, emotional and physical.  This freedom is our actual condition in every moment, it only awaits to be realised.  If we choose to presume something else then we limit ourselves, deny our freedom and sacrifice our Happiness.

Through meditation we can come to the point where we’re able to choose freedom.  Initially in occasional moments of clarity, then more frequently and finally constantly living life from the free disposition of consciousness.  This is liberation, freedom, happiness, joy, bliss, ecstasy, love. Through meditation we can realise a state that gives us the power to choose to be free of our opinions, beliefs, thoughts and ideas; to be free of emotional turmoil; and to be free of concern for the mortal life of decay and death.

Meditation enables us to stay in touch with what is most profound and meaningful in our life and not allow what is superficial to take over our life.  So that rather than living on the basis of what is superficial, we continually bring ourselves back, to what ultimately, is the true nature of our life, the true nature of reality, the true nature of the world and the true nature of others.

Meditation enables us to realise the full potential and freedom of each present moment.  What quality does this present moment have?  What is the quality of this present moment when we are stripped and free of all superficial distractions and we simply are what we are?  From this happy perspective life is simply to be enjoyed in the full realisation of what it is - a creative display of infinite complexity and mystery.
